This is the first edition of The Big Micro Obsession initiative newsletter by Ruthleess Marketing. I am so excited to have you here! If you are reading this it’s because you are part of the unique set of business owners that own a micro business. “Micro” is not the term I use to minimize what you are building but to put you in the right space for real growth.
As we start the week, it’s important to adjust to the life we live as micro business builders. In my Sunday letters to you, I aim to give you lifestyle food for thought to get you away from the burnout phase that always looms over us as entrepreneurs.

Declutter Your Mind, Boost Your Productivity

As January winds down, it's not just our desks that need decluttering, but our minds too. Mental clutter – those nagging thoughts, lingering doubts, and endless to-dos – can stifle productivity. How do we combat this? Start by dedicating time each morning to organize your thoughts. Just like sorting emails, categorize your thoughts into 'urgent', 'important', and 'later'. This simple act of mental decluttering can free up headspace for more focused work.
Additionally, embrace the fluidity of your work hours. Traditional 9-5 schedules don't fit everyone, especially those battling 'business ADHD'. If your productivity peaks at unconventional hours, why not make that your new normal? This flexible approach accommodates the ebbs and flows of entrepreneurial motivation, allowing you to harness your most productive periods. Remember, in the world of micro business, effectiveness trumps convention.
Nurturing Non-Business Friendships

Entrepreneurs often find their social circles narrowing down to business contacts. But what about friendships untainted by commercial interests? Maintaining relationships that exist purely for mutual support and enjoyment is crucial. Start by setting clear boundaries: make it known that your friends are not your customer base.
I know this is simple advice you have heard before, but it is important if you are one of those seeking quality relationships beyond your business. Business will take over your life, and if you are talented enough, you can juggle maintaining quality friendships.
Engage with them in activities unrelated to your business, and when you do talk shop, make it a two-way street – show interest in their lives outside of how it benefits your business.
This separation is vital for your mental well-being. It ensures that you have a support network that values you for who you are, not what you sell. It might mean having fewer, but more meaningful relationships. These friendships become a refuge, a place where you can recharge and return to your business refreshed. These non-business friendships are your anchors, reminding you of the world beyond your entrepreneurial pursuits.
